So I was on twitter like I am almost everyday, I’m sort of addicted lol, and one of my followers tweeted about a blog challenge.  This sparked my interest because I find it hard not to talk about God, but I wasn’t sure I had time to participate. I am a new Senior pastor of a growing ministry, I work a full-time 9-5 outside of the ministry, I’m a husband of almost 12 yrs, and I’m a father of a 3 and a 2-year-old.  So I stay busy to say the least.

Yet this blog challenge interested me and after some thought I decided I wanted to do it.  The first part of our challenge was to blog about how we came to know Christ.  We are supposed to tell our testimony.  This is where the proverbial light bulb went off in my head.  You see, I knew my time was limited, and I knew my testimony was intricate; but I also remembered that my testimony was videotaped several years ago when I was in revival services in Colorado.  Therefore, without checking the blog challenge rules, I decided to include videos to tell my story.  (Shh, don’t tell anyone.  It will be our little secret.)

Below is my testimony in two parts.  I’m certain it will bless your life, and I’m certain it will give you a glimpse into why I do what I do for God no matter how busy I may be. You will see why to me it has been worth it all, and why I will use every medium possible to talk about my God.  Enjoy.

Caught by His hand and held by His love; no one knows the power I feel from above.  I try to explain, oh what a feeling.  It’s hard to express, such joy, such healing.  When will we learn to give Him our all.  How many mistakes or times must we fall.  Open your hearts, He’s sure to come in.  Giving over to Him is one sure way to win.  Keep pressing ahead don’t look at what’s behind.  You will find the journey has been well worth your time. When times are hard and stress is high, don’t drawback it is time to draw nigh.  Leave your agenda and yield to His plan.  He will prove He knows best again and again.  The Him I speak of is the one true Savior.  With Him in your life there’s no need to waver.  It is He and He alone that can free us.  He’s our King, our Lord, our Big Brother; HE’S JESUS!

I went to church tonight with a friend.  I was the only African-American in the entire building, but I did not feel like a stranger at all.  I felt just like family.  The family of God transcends all of our distinctions whether it be race, gender, class, or even doctrine.  God is bigger than all of that.  His presence was so strong in the place.  It makes me believe that we will never FEEL God the way He desires us to, as long as we focus on what separates us.  God is LOVE. It is only in that atmosphere that He will FEEL most comfortable.  He will not reside in an atmosphere void of LOVE.  If the singles are jealous of the married, if the singers stay upset with the audience, if the pastor is sick of the members, if the deacons are plotting to overthrow the pastor, and if the teens are at odds with the adults; then we will not see or FEEL God.  No, it is not just about a FEELING; however, a breeding ground of LOVE will make Him comfortable to show up and show out anytime He wants too.  All I’m saying is let’s make sure we have an atmosphere conducive for his appearance.  This should be all of our New Year’s Resolution, “I’m walking in LOVE in 2010.”  Because,  “When we all get together what a day of rejoicing that will be.  When we all see Jesus, we will sing and shout the VICTORY .”
